Hitting Headlines: Smart Drones to Be Launched This Year

Introduction

Drones have become quite popular in the past years. They have been used the most in the US, but there are lots of people who fly them in Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia too. In this article, we will show you the usage of drones, human rights and, of course, the smart drones.

Drone Usage

First of all let’s clear the definition of drones since many people don’t know what they are. Drones are kinds of the 21st-century robots that can be controlled by either a remote or they can work by themselves. There are many types of drones, some can move on the ground, however, the most popular ones are those that fly in the air. If you say the word “drone” most people will think about the latter and an image of a flying robot will appear in their eyes.

Most drones have a camera on them, which can make them useful for several tasks. Do you want to record something in the nature, a concert maybe? You have the chance, just get a drone up in the air (if it’s allowed), place it in position and record what you want to. It may sound futuristic, but it makes most people’s life easier. For example, you don’t want to miss the birth of your child by holding the camera and recording the situation, you just have to place a drone somewhere (of course if it’s allowed in the hospital) and record it!

Drones can be used in most countries by all people. The devices are both used by the government and corporates and by everyday people. However, they are more popular among governments of different countries since the military and three-word agencies really like to use them for their operations. Drones are great for surveillance, they can spy on everyone quite easily with them since they have a camera in themselves, quite small and pretty silent. You just have to get them high up in the air, place them in position and record the point of interest that you want to spy on. The military has even drones that armed with rockets and guns, I’m sure that you have already seen one of these in some movies. However, there are plenty of issues with the use of these devices since they can be used as pretty dangerous weapons. People don’t really like to see the killing that can be made with drones, so there are huge, usual protests that are made in different parts of the world.

Human Rights and Drones

Human rights activists don’t really agree with the usage of drones with camera since they can record everything and everybody, which is against human rights. Some governments have already sanctioned the devices, so they can’t be used for the abuse of personal rights. However, personal rights will, most probably, mean nothing in the future since with the release of smart glasses it will be possible to record people anonymously. They can’t see that you are currently recording everything, so human rights will be abused. This can be a pretty bad thing, however, if there will be a reformation of personal rights, this can be avoided.

Smart Drones

Smart Drones

A US based company, Bio Inspired Technologies, is taking a different approach to drones. Drones nowadays are pretty stupid, I must say. Military ones can be pretty genius, but they can’t be used by normal people. End user drones require human interference to work properly since if you turn them on autopilot and there are lots of them around, they will most probably collide with each other.

However, this can avoid, since Bio Inspired Technologies are working on a drone type that will have a biological brain. This could sound pretty morbid and weird, however, this is true. They are researching a brain for their robots, so they can remember things and can think. I don’t know how this will affect the world, my first thought on this, which came to my mind was the Terminator movies. In the Terminators, Skynet, the capital of the robots is revolting against humans, bombing most countries and making robots far more superior than human beings. Hope this will not happen to us!
