iPhone SE Vs iPhone 6s – Did Apple fail and why?
iPhone SE and iPhone 6s are both great inventions from Apple that brought a revolution in mobile technology. Apple Company has been running on a quote by its Founder Steve Jobs that most of the times people are not aware of what they really want in life until it is shown to them. This has helped build a successful business model by encouraging innovation. For the longest time, the developers at Apple have been developing devices based on what they think people need, but this seems to have changed with the introduction of iPhone SE. This gadget was built with user’s needs in mind after carrying out a survey to really ascertain the needs of the customer. While this seems to be a good strategy, it might have a not very positive effect on the Company as illustrated by the following comparison between iPhone SE and iPhone 6S.
First, we look at the size and design of the two models. Most people describe iPhone SE as the phone that Apple did not want to make based on the outward appearance. Apple has for the longest time been applauded for its appealing designs for its gadgets but disappoints when it comes to iPhone SE which seems to have been put in a previous generation’s chassis. The size is smaller compared to older versions while most players seem to be developing bigger gadgets. Compared to the iPhone 6S, iPhone SE looks older but there is an explanation to this. The smaller size and well-cornered edges make it easier to handle this phone compared to iPhone 6S which has rounded edges that make it harder to hold the phone. Much as it may look like Apple have lost it in designing this phone, the customer is on the winning side since there will be no more dropping of the phone and as a result, you are assured that it will last long.
The second issue is on the display since that of iPhone SE is inferior compared to that of iPhone 6S. The display is a replica of iPhone 5S in the sense that it is a bit dull, has low contrast and responds slowly to touch. While this may make the phone look inferior to the iPhone 6S, stats show that the pixel densities of the two gadgets are not very different and this is what matters most. Again at the end of the day, it performs its functions perfectly well. iPhone 6S is considered to be superior because of the 3D touch that is super sensitive. For someone who has never used the iPhone 6S, they might not notice the issue with the iPhone SE display, meaning they might not even notice the shortcomings.
The third issue is on performance and these two models are not very far apart when it comes to this. iPhone SE might be missing all the factors mentioned above but the fact that it has optimal performance makes the whole difference. The two phones in question are very similar when it comes to their performance and provide users with the fast and smooth experiences. The smaller screen on iPhone SE enables it to load more pixels within a short time and this is what makes it match with iPhone 6S. In fact, iPhone SE has an added advantage of being more portable and its durability is guaranteed.
Next is on the cameras which are not such a huge differentiator between the two phones. The rear cameras are the same with the same resolution and photo quality. The difference, however, comes in the front camera whereby iPhone SE is quite inferior with only 1.2 megapixels while its counterpart iPhone 6S has an amazing 5 megapixel front camera. The other factor worth talking about is the battery life and in this case, iPhone SE is superior. It has a longer battery life which can last a whole day with heavy usage. This does not mean that its battery is more powerful, it is not. The catch is on the lower resolution which consumes less power and allows the user more time before the need to recharge. While Apple might look like iPhone SE was a big miss for them, it is a big win for the customer especially because it is cheaper compared to the other Apple devices.
