Rumors about the new iPhone 7 that is widely expected to hit the market this year are already flying around. They are not rumors as such, but just hints at probable improvements and additional features to be included in this anticipated latest edition in the iPhone series of smartphones. Enhanced capabilities such as wireless charging, Touch ID enabled screen and removal of the headphone jack to slim it down are just some of the rumors that are yet to be confirmed come mid September when the phone is expected to be officially launched. But what do we know so far?
What to Expect from Apple
As usual we expect Apple to release two versions of the iPhone 7 as it has always done with the previous versions from iPhone 6 all the way back to iPhone 3. Apart from the iPhone 7, we also expect an iPhone 7 Plus to accompany it. The two versions will come in 5.5 as well as 4.7 inch displays. Whether Apple’s naming format will change this year, is still something will have to wait to confirm.
1. Shape and Design
The new iPhone 7 will have a shape similar in every concept to that of the previous iPhone 6s except for a protruding camera. The antennas at the back will be removed but will retain their previous positions at the top, bottom and the sides. The front side of the phone will feature an elongated earpiece and ambient light sensor not to mention a home button that is pressure specific and utilized haptic response capability.
It is also widely expected that this anticipated phone will be slimmer than its predecessors, a design Apple plans to accomplish by removing the 3.5 mm headphone jack and configuring a thinner lightning port. With the introduction of the lightning port to the new design, there will be no way one can listen to music on headphones while charging at the same time which has raised queries about the charging system of this new phone. The only logical explanation so far is that Apple plans to introduce the wireless charging technology.
While it is widely expected that the wireless charging system will be the main feature of the new iPhone 7, some sources also point to the possibility of the introduction of the fast charge. This move can be argued is initiated by the fact that its rivals the Android has already adopted it and is using it to not only retain customers but attract new smartphone users.
The fact that the iPhone 7 is going to come with a physically large battery than the previous versions will make it last relatively longer than its predecessors. The iPhone 7 battery life is expected to be approximately 14 per cent larger in life span than the predecessor iPhone 6s and combined with the improved internal features of the new device, specifically the A10 processor, it will utilize minimal power for optimum results. It is also reasonably fair to assume that the relative larger size battery of iPhone 7 is due to the fact that it will feature two powerful cameras that will require enough power to operate.
As for the charging system, it will come with an iPad adapter that guarantees faster and superior charging speeds. With the iPad adapter you can achieve an over ninety per cent charge level in less than two hours. However as for the iPhone 7, the adapter is rumored to no longer be necessary, given the possibility of introduction of the wireless charging system.
Conclusion
Apple is promising a transformative edition of its series of iPhones with the onset of the iPhone 7. The phone has created anxiety with its assumed capabilities, some of which might be true where as others may be outright lies. All these speculations will be put to rest in the following month when the device will officially be launched.
